Echo 95 Girls - Blue

Echo White Redeems itself against Echo Blue

Echo White return the favor of the first game of the season by scoring a game winning goal with about 20 seconds left in the game to win 3-2. Bummer . . . It was a well played game with both teams clamping down on defense and some excellent goalie play by both teams. Goals for Echo Blue were scored by Kara Andersen and Haley Jackowiak and the tough goalie play was by Hanna Abbell, Olivia Yoder & Nicole Beitzinger. Hopefully, we will get another chance to play Echo White at Habig this weekend. Wouldn’t that be nice?

Echo Blue Displays Strong Teamwork

The girls played "team ball" and beat the Goshen Stars on Saturday 3-2. Goals were scored by Melissa Collier (2) and Kara Andersen. Best goalie save of the season was made by Olivia Yoder as she dove back for a ball to prevent it from crossing the line. It was a great game for the fans with a lot of action and some nail biting shots that went just wide. Next week we face Echo White who I believe only has one loss which was their first game to us. They will be looking to redeem themselves which will make for a good game on June 4th at Prairie Vista.

Go Echo Blue!

Echo Blue finds some offensive power

Echo Blue started off very sluggish against Ft. Wayne on Saturday. Could it be because 6 of the 11 girls showed up at 9:27 for a 9:30 game? Maybe . . . anyway we got ourselves in a 2-0 deficit within the first five minutes. Thanks to Charle’s circle drill, I was able to explain what we needed to do on the field to get back in this game. The girls responded marvelously and played team ball up and down the field. It was a joy to watch and the girls came back and won 7-3. Goals were scored by Ashley Waite (2), Olivia Yoder, Melissa Collier (2), Hannah Abell, and Kara Andersen. Quick note on Kara – I told Kara before the game that she was going to score a goal. She said, “But Coach, I played goalie last week.” I said, “No, you are going to score a goal!” Kara’s puzzled response “How do you know that?” Well our first goal was scored by Kara. When she came off the field, here eyes where as wide as I had ever seen them and her smile was even wider. Even though my back was turned when she scored (that always works), I’m sure it was a well executed score.

Note to parents – The rest of our games are at Prairie Vista!

Echo Blue Learns a Lesson

Echo Blue ran into a very good team in Argos this past weekend. While we lost 7 - 3, this was a growing game for our girls. By the end of the game, we were playing much better which should be our mode of operation for the remainder of the year. I was very pleased with how the girls adjusted their games and started coming off the field with "Red Faces" from their all out effort. Melissa Collier, Olivia Yoder and Hannah Abbell scored our goals while the girls with the best "Red Faces" were Kate Mader, Sarah Bueter & Kara Andersen.

Next week we travel to Middlebury for a 12:30 PM game.

Echo Blue & Echo Gold Battle on the Frozen Tundra of PV Field

On the frozen tundra at Prairie Vista, Echo Blue lost a close game to Echo Gold by the score of 2-3. The wind aided goals for Echo Blue were scored by Melissa Collier & Sarah Bueter while the brave and still shivering goalies were Kate Mader & Sarah Bueter. This is a game the girls will remember for a long time. The wind was gusting so hard at times it blew the referees bag, which was half full, across the field and the snow felt like little pebbles flying through the air. Both teams played extremely well considering the conditions and I think some of them actually enjoyed it. Thanks to the four parents that actually got out of their cars and braved the elements with their daughters. As crazy as it is, soccer, like football, is only cancelled for lighting. This will make the upcoming “Hot” games seem pleasurable. Next Saturday’s game is in Argos at 12:30 against the Argos Madhouse.

Echo U10 Girls - Blue Win Opener

One of the new Echo U10 Girl’s team has gotten their first game under their belt. After a little confusion, we have determined this team to be Echo Blue who is playing in the NISL - U10 Girls – Silver League under Coach Steve Collier. The 12 girls making up Echo Blue are: Hannah Abell, Kara Andersen, Maggi Andersen, Cara Anderson (that’s correct, 2 K(C)ara Anderse(o)ns on the same team), Nicole Beitzinger, Sarah Beuter, Melissa Collier, Haley Jackowiak, Kate Mader, Kylee VanHorne, Ashley Waite & Olivia Yoder.

Our first game was against Echo White which was a fun way to start. Thanks Coach Dan, for being the coach that you are to both teams. It was a fun, close game which ended in a 3-2 victory for Echo Blue. Goals for Echo Blue were by Nichole Beitzinger, Melissa Collier and Olivia Yoder. Playing tough in goal were Hannah Abell & Haley Jackowiak.

Next game for Echo Blue is April 23rd at 5:00 against another Echo team, Echo Gold. The game will be played at Prairie Vista and this should be another fun game of friends playing against one another.

Thanks to everyone who came out and supported the teams.
