2008 Winter Training

Winter training is underway. Download an updated schedule.

Winter training will begin in December with 1 or 2 sessions before the holidays and begin in earnest again after the holidays in later in January. Michiana Echo will once again conduct its winter training program at Soccerzone in Granger as we have in past years. This is training. This is not indoor league play. You can expect to see an email from Echo about that if you have interest later this month.

Winter training consists of training sessions with trainers working on specific topics. We anticipate having 6-7 sessions per age groups for boys and girls in alternating sessions. The days and times for training are on the registration form. Please note, that schedule may be changed once we know who is registered. We may need to adjust the schedule based upon registrations.

The cost is $69 for the entire winter training program (all 6-7 sessions included). As they say, a deal! These sessions are a great way to get good training in an indoor facility over the winter and also keep your players' skills up.

If you are interested (and we hope you will be), please complete the attached registration form and mail it to Will Baker at: Will Baker, 50779 Canyon Ridge Drive, Granger, IN 46530. Thanks to Will for agreeing to help on this important project.

Honor The Game

Michiana Echo Soccer Club teams celebrate "Honor the Game Day" at the Echo fall camp intrasquad scrimmages and picnic. Players, parents and coaches reminded each other during the day of what it means to honor the game and reinforced the tenets of the Positive Coaching Alliance. Michiana Echo Soccer Club is proud to be affiliated with the Positive Coaching Alliance and is committed to making the game a positive place for its members.

Eric Stewart Doubles Up on Coaching Certifications

Director of Coaching Eric Stewart recently completed an impressive double header of coaching certification, receiving both a USSF National "C" License and a National Youth License over the span of three months.

Offered by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), the National "C" license course is a complete, nine-day coaching course in a residential environment that immerses coaches in the culture of soccer. It consists of seven days of instruction and two days of extensive oral, written and practical examinations.

The National Youth License is offered by U.S. Youth Soccer and focuses on the coaching of U6-U12 soccer players. The six-day class combines both classroom (theory) and field (practical) sessions - during which candidates are videotaped working with children from the various age groups. It concludes with more written, oral, and practical examinations.

Please join Echo in congratulating Eric on his achievements.

Positive Coaching Alliance(PCA) Partnership

Michiana Echo is pleased to announce a partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) which has positively affected sports throughout the nation since its inception at Stanford University in 1998 with its character-building approach to sports. PCA recognizes the importance of striving to win and putting forth maximum effort to that end. However, PCA also helps coaches and parents to understand that they can have another, more important, impact on young athletes -- that is teaching life lessons through sports. Through educational opportunities during the coming year, we hope that Echo coaches and parents will find innovative ways to have an even more positive affect on our young athletes. PCA will unlock greater opportunities for Michiana Echo to reinforce its commitment to developing quality people who happen to be quality soccer players.
