Team Placement
Your invitation is to join the Echo academy for one year. All players were evaluated at tryouts pursuant to Indiana Soccer League (ISL) Academy descriptions. Coach Duma, our Academy Director may continue evaluations and discussions with coaches throughout the summer before finalizing team placements.
Teams will be formed primarily by grouping together players of similar abilities based on their current stage of development. Other factors may be considered, including birth year, carpooling, and playing with friends. Each team competes at an appropriate level within the academy.
If the coaches determine that a player needs additional challenges, player passing opportunities may be available.
Echo's top priority for academy teams is to put players in the best environment for long-term player development.
Academy Program
Echo’s Academy program is the first step on Echo’s developmental pathway for travel soccer.
At this age, our primary emphasis is on training for technical skill, such as ball control, passing/receiving, 1v1 attacking and defending, moves, and changes of direction. Basic tactics are also taught. An emphasis on technical skill development through our exclusive Coerver training will promote creativity and prepare players to execute tactically as they get older.
We also emphasize character development and fun! Academy players are at their beginning stages of growth and development. As they form skills and understanding, it is important that they also learn life lessons that are transferable to other aspects of life and develop a love for the game and desire to continue playing.
To learn more about our academy program, please visit our academy page.

Coaching
Echo’s Academy program is overseen primarily by Academy Director Duma Magagula. All Academy coaches under his direction will meet minimum coaching license requirements set by US Youth Soccer and Indiana Soccer. He will be directly involved in academy training, setting Echo's curriculum and training academy teams on a weekly basis.
Each Echo Academy team will have its own qualified and experienced coach and will also receive weekly training from a dedicated Coerver Technical Director. Echo has prioritized investment in its coaching staff to bring you an excellent group of coaches!
Training and Games
The Echo Academy training curriculum is delivered in the following format:
- Coerver training session 1x per week for 8 weeks.
- Team training session 1x per week.
- Free Play session 1x per week.
- Goalkeeper training is also provided on a weekly basis throughout the season and during the winter.
- Winter training is included as well (begins in late December/early January).
The game play format is as follows:
- Indiana Soccer League play.
- One club-sponsored tournament per season.
- Teams can choose to add games by scheduling friendlies or additional tournaments.
- Travel is generally limited to northern Indiana with a possible trip to Indy.

Service
All Echo families are expected to provide 5 or more hours of service each year to the club (fall and spring combined).
Service builds a sense of community, models volunteerism for our children, and keeps fees down. Service can come in many forms, including coaching, team manager, team social coordinator, field setup or maintenance, special events, and fundraising.
Please indicate your preferred service opportunity on your registration form and we will contact you with details. Or if you are not in a position to volunteer your time, you can opt out of the volunteer requirement for $50 per season.
